TIMELINE
A timeline of canon story animations. They are listed in order of when they happen in the story. There are a lot of missing scenes that have not been animated yet.
Kitsune possession
Upon purchasing a mask that was thought to be nothing more than a trinket, Luka is possessed by the kitsune. Now controlling a vessel, the kitsune begins murdering those in the vicinity.
Wolf possession
The kitsune threatens to wipe the entirety of Kuretai out if its people cannot find the wolf for it to combat. Confiscating all of the merchandise from the saleswoman who'd sold the fox mask to Luka, the military found the wolf mask among her inventory. Out of desperation, the government begins a search for a vessel for the wolf to take, first going through every enlisted soldier in the military. Once exhausting every last troop, a mandatory mask check on civilians was enforced. Three years later, they happen across Orion Stellus, who the wolf takes as a vessel. Now possessed, the wolf, using Orion's body, hunts down the kitsune. After a violent fight, the wolf manages to break the seal binding the mask to Luka's face, ending his three year possession.

Removing the mask revealed Luka Aalto, a docile boy with a three year gap in his memory. In the face of Orion, Luka yields, however Dionysus quickly takes over to continue the fight.
Once a monster
always a monster
Luka encounters a friend he used to hang out with a lot before his possession by the kitsune. Unfortunately a lot has changed in three years and Akio no longer considers him a friend, but a senseless murderer. Despite his best efforts to earn Akio's forgiveness, Luka is rejected and pushed out of the man's life, leaving him alone and heartbroken.
what an annoying bird
Anzero crosses the border into Kuretai (illegally). Upon seeing the wolf and fox masks, he manages to swipe the wolf mask from Orion. Unfortunately, the wolf's instinct kicks in, telling Orion to reclaim the mask or else. With great force, Orion both reclaims the mask and puts Anz in cuffs with the intention of turning him in to his higher ups as a potential threat to Kuretai.
fox hunt
Plenty of time has passed and Orion and Anz have grown uncomfortably close for Luka. He would much rather not butt in between them, but his insecurity and spiraling thoughts push him into an emotional hole that the kitsune takes advantage of. The crow being one of its adversaries, it pushes Luka to try and kill Anz, pumping more power through Luka's body and manifesting a sixth tail. Unfortunately, Anz has great control over the crow's abilities and is able to defend himself, and the kitsune is unable to keep total control over Luka for very long.
The Dragon king

Alexsei, having caught wind of the holder of the fox mask no longer under full possession, travels to Kuretai in order to confront Luka. Instead, he meets the holder of the wolf mask, Orion.
when words fail

Unable to convince Luka, Alexsei resorts to violence, unafraid of throwing Luka around until he fights back.

The kitsune's presence becomes overwhelming as Luka is backed into a corner.
Mirror, oh mirror
As a result of what happened with Alexsei and being separated from Orion and Anzero, Luka rarely wants to be present and in control of his body anymore. Because he is unable to stand the isolation and stress, he leaves Dionysus in charge, which backfires on him as Dio continues to make decisions that don't take Luka into consideration and are against his best interests. Growing evermore bitter and angry at his second personality, Luka lashes out at what he believes to be Dionysus standing before him in the mirror.
